Nearby search is optional. If you allow it, this map uses your device location in this browser to center the map and rank the fire-report points currently shown. It does not send or save your coordinates. Map tiles load directly from OpenStreetMap or USGS for the area you view; the selected provider receives those tile requests. Distances are approximate straight-line distances to reported fire points, not perimeters or evacuation boundaries; public reports may be incomplete.
